Minister Davis Profile

 

 A Profile History of Evangelist Davis M. Byars, Jr.

 

 

 

I was born in a little town in Maysville, S.C., and I attended school in a two room school house, where my first grade teacher taught the first, second and third grade all of us in the same class room just sitting in different rows.  Our heat consisted of a very large pot belly stove, that burned wood plus coal and the toilets were out houses in back of the school building.  By the time I finished the third grade a brand new school house had been built, for grades from the first to the twelfth.  The school was named after the late and great Dr. Benjamin E. Mays, President of the Morehouse College in Atlanta, Ga.  Dr. Mays was my great inspiration because each year he would come and give our commence speech.  I had the opportunity to meet with Dr. Mays on many different occasions and received the encouragement to go forward and never look back.  I took his advice and it has propelled me to where I am today.  I graduated from Benjamin E. Mays High School in 1963 and moved to Greenwich, Conn and attended the University of Connecticut and continued my studies at the New York State University, and the Wharton School of Business and finance in Philadelphia, Pa. 

At the tender age of fourteen, I gave my life to the Lord, although I didn’t always follow the path that had been lay out for me, I strayed away but with the holy spirit toughing at my soul, He brought me back into His green pasture.  For the past ten years I have continued my O.J.T. (i.e. on the job training) in ministry, traveling throughout out the entire United States preaching and teaching God holy word as an Evangelist Minister for the Ebenezer Baptist Church. .” The Lord was proving Himself more and more a “sure foundation” to me as Isa.28:16 says, , “Behold, I lay in Zion a corner stone for a sure foundation, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation.”  From 1967 through 1978 was spent working in the corporate world with one of the major fortune 500 companies in sales and marketing as one of its Vice Presidents.

From 1978 until present I have established several successful businesses and still continue to own and operate a very successful transportation company today.  In addition, I have authored several books and written many position papers.  Psalm.37:4 “Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart” This is because when you delight in Him, your desires become in line with His desires. This is my prayer for each of you.
